Winter Solstice Celebration

The next meeting of West Dorset Humanists - Thomas Hardy and the Poetry of Unbelief

The next meeting of West Dorset Humanists will be held on Thursday 24th November, 7.30pm at the Wessex Royale Hotel, High West Street Dorchester. John Hubbard - who teaches English at Bournemouth School - will explore in this talk a selection of Hardy's verse with readings and commentary, trying to discover what Hardy made of the world in which he lived, and how he sustained himself in it. Our Next Meeting

The next meeting of West Dorset Humanists will be held at the Wessex Royale Hotel, High West Street, Dorchester on Thursday October 27th, 7.30pm. Anna Boehm, a representative from the national group 'Dignity in Dying' will give a thought provoking talk titled: 'My life, my death, my choice'.

Unfortunately we have had to postpone John Hubbard's talk on September 29th  ''Thomas Hardy and the Poetry of Disbelief'

Hopefully John will be able to join us later in the year for what promises to be an interesting insight.

Humanism and Sexuality

Thanks to Jo Adams for a fascinating talk on Humanism and Sexuality at the Wessex Royale on Thursday 28th July.  Jo provided us with a warm, thoughtful and often humorous insight into a humanist view of sexuality which is life affirming, and based on respect and equality.

The numbers of people attending West Dorset Humanist meetings continues to grow and it's great to see so many new and old members.

West Dorset Humanists was started in January 2010 and since then we have grown into a lively and diverse group. We usually meet at the Wessex Royale Hotel in Dorchester on the last Thursday in each month and have a talk followed by questions and discussion.  New members are always welcome.
